You will need a passport to enter Costa Rica as well as an outbound ticket to leave the country within 90 days.
We suggest packing lightly so that you can use carry-on luggage. Keeping up with checked bags can cause delays.
Pack clothes that will keep you cool and are easy to wash and dry. The condo has a washing machine and dryer. As for shoes, sandals and sneakers are recommended and if you intend to do any hiking or climbing, a heavy-duty pair of shoes or boots should be packed.

The COVID requirements for entry to Costa Rica include: You will need a Health Pass which can only be completed within the 72 hours prior to departure. One form must be completed per person, including minors, without exception.
Tourists must acquire mandatory travel insurance that covers lodging in the event of quarantine as well as medical expenses due to contracting COVID-19. This does not exempt them from this requirement, and they must acquire an insurance policy as described. UPDATE: If you have proof of vaccination you no longer are required to obtain medical insurance. Reach out to us and we can advise you on where you can get a Covid test.

You should fly into the Liberia International Airport. There is a shuttle service available, but due to COVID-19 Regulations, all Passengers must have an airport shuttle reservation before arrival. Reservations will not be taken at the airport.
If you use one of our drivers, he will stop at Walmart to get early supplies for the condo. Otherwise, there are large local supermarkets in Huacas, 6 miles prior to arriving at the condo, and smaller supermarkets in town.

Your best prices can be obtained at the airport upon your arrival at your duty-free shop. Personally, the Centenario Rum is delicious and reasonably priced.
You can use your American dollars, Do not exchange dollars for Colones at the airport. You will get a less favorable rate. I usually bring the majority of my cash in 20s and 50s and use my credit card. Make sure to use a credit card that doesn't charge you an exchange fee (usually cards where you pay an annual fee will not charge). Although some restaurants will put the bill in dollars most do Colones. Figure your conversion as follows:
Step1: Subtract the three zeros and multiply by two so 10000 colones: $20 dollars.
Step 2: Multiply $20 by 85%: $17 dollars. This is your conversion. That is my formula. Your change will be in Colones.
